Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto already admits that, it was an ‘error of judgement’ that saw Charles Leclerc‘s terrible knockout in Qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix.

Once again Mercedes grabs the front row, the 62nd time in Formula One history the constructor has done so, it was yet more bad news for Ferrari. Leclerc was eliminated in Q1, the first of three qualifying stints that serves to eliminate drivers until the top 10 fight it out for pole.

The youngster Leclerc made third fastest in the final practice ahead of qualifying, was furious with his team, who admitted they made a mistake when judging the cut-off time to continue to the next phase of qualifying.

“We can’t afford to do these things. It’s just a big, big disappointment,” Leclerc said.

“I need some explanations; I don’t know for now.”

Start from 15th apparently out of contention on a circuit that is especially difficult to overtake. That was not the only problem for Ferrari, who have seriously underperformed so far this season after a promising pre-season campaign.

Also the championship contender, Sebastian Vettel crashed early stage of final practice, but still managed to pilot his car to fourth spot on the grid, behind the two Mercedes and Max Verstappen’s Red Bull.
