Lewis Hamilton wins fifth F1 world title at Mexican GP

Lewis Hamilton sealed his fifth world title at the Mexican Grand Prix despite finishing only fourth, due higher tyre degradation issue.

Nevertheless, Hamilton’s fourth place behind Verstappen, Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen was enough to become only the third driver in the history of the sport to win five world titles.

Hamilton’s success makes him unquestionably the most successful British Formula 1 driver in history, moving him two championship clear of Sir Jackie Stewart.

He joins with Argentine Juan Manuel Fangio on five four world titles and overtook Sebastian Vettel and Frenchman Alain Prost on four world titles, behind only Michael Schumacher, the all-time record holder on seven… more to follow
