Lewis Hamilton clinch his home Grand Prix pole position at Britain. The Mercedes speedy secure back his pole in his final effort of the Q3, ahead championship leader Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.

The local boy recorded his fourth consecutive and sixth British Grand Prix pole position at Silverstone circuit. Vettel made an impressive performance after getting treatment on neck injury.

Hamilton made his 76th career pole position, with Ferrari F1 veteran Kimi Raikkonen slightly slower as he was 0.098 seconds behind and set third place.

Red Bull Racing duo Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo were fifth and sixth behind the Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas, two Haas driver Kevin Magnussen and Romain Grosjean seventh and eighth.

Impressive Charles Leclerc secure ninth place on the starting grid ahead of Force India’s Esteban Ocon.

Hamilton expressed his huge relief during track interview, who slipped down early stage of Q3 behind the Vettel.

“I gave it everything he could,” Hamilton told the interviewer Martin Brundle. “It was so close between these Ferraris, the Ferraris just pulled something out when it got to Q3 and I was just praying I could do it for you guys [the fans].

“I’m so grateful for the support because without you guys I wouldn’t have been able to do it.”

“Lewis did a special lap and it’s all down to him,” says Mercedes’ non-executive chairman Niki Lauda. “But my worry is with the Ferraris.”
