Red Bull had again a quick race car – Horner

Max Verstappen managed to finish third for Red Bull without any error, team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, who clocked the fastest lap at the end, managed to resist a late charge from Hamilton in the closing laps and retain fourth place ahead of the Englishman who extended his record points-scoring run to 32 races.

“We had again a quick race car. Again our problem was on the Saturday. It’s been a very strong performance from the team again this weekend. Horner tell Sky F1.

“Max has had an absolutely clean weekend. He’s been quick in every session. He managed the race very well and looked after the tyres. It’s great for his confidence and hopefully a start of a run for him.

“We need to get more performance out of the whole car. Ideally more out of the engine, we have more stuff in the pipeline for the chassis. The car is working beautifully at the moment and performing at an incredibly high level. We have tracks coming up that will play more to our strengths so to be third and fourth ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari is a good result.

“It’s been another strong weekend for us, another fastest lap, podium for Max, fourth for Daniel, on a track that is Mercedes terriroty. We didn’t have enough to challenge Sebastian today but there are some tracks coming up we should be strong at.”
