Sebastian Vettel has booked top place on the starting grid for 2018 Canadian Grand Prix, the German narrowly beating Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas who starts second. Championship leader Lewis Hamilton could only manage a fourth place start.

Practice pace-setter Max Verstappen on third place, Kimi Raikkonen had looked likely to grab third place on the grid, but ended up having to settle for fifth, and Daniel Ricciardo took sixth spot to complete the Ferrari, Mercedes and Red Bull lock-out at the front of the grid.

Nico Hulkenberg took the first of the also-ran places for Renault in seventh, Esteban Ocon is eighth for Force India, Carlos Sainz ninth for the second Renault and Sergio Perez gave Force India both cars in the top ten starts.

Haas F1’s Romain Grosjean permitted to start race, who missed entire qualifying session due to an engine trouble.
