Barrichello blocked from seeing Schumacher

Rubens Barrichello says he was blocked from trying to see his old teammate Michael Schumacher.

The pair were at Ferrari between 2000 and 2005, but in late 2013 Schumacher injured his brain in a skiing accident.

“I tried to find a way to visit him, but they said to me ‘It will not do you or him any good’,” Barrichello told Brazil’s Globo.

“So I don’t have any news,” he added.

Earlier this month Schumacher’s former F1 colleague Michael Bartels discussed his friend.

“It is still a very tragic thing and I hope and wish that one day we will hear the news that he is feeling so much better, that we will be able to see him in public again,” he said.

“I think this is the wish of every motorsports fan, especially in Germany.

“When I think about what he has done for this particular sport in Germany, I get goosebumps.”

Bartels’ comments came after Schumacher’s manager Sabine Kehm had thanked his supporters.

“What can be said is that the family really appreciates the empathy of the fans,” she said.

“The people really do see and understand (his health situation) is not to be shared in the public eye.”
