Red Bull working hard with Honda – Marko

Red Bull Racing is already working hard with Honda, amid rumours they will go racing together in 2019 F1 season.

Already next year, given the Japanese marque’s breakup with McLaren, Honda will supply engines exclusively to the Red Bull junior team Toro Rosso.

And Dr Helmut Marko revealed to the German broadcaster Sky that Red Bull Technology is lending a hand.

“Right now, we’re working hard with Honda to make this a competitive package with Toro Rosso,” he said.

“We are very pleased with the progress Honda is making and will continue to make until the start of the season.”

It is the strongest sign yet that, with Red Bull’s Renault engine deal ending after 2019, a Red Bull-Honda tie-up for 2019 is probable.

Marko said Red Bull will support Honda “for example with the facilities that Red Bull Technology has”.

He said Red Bull will then stand back and track the progress of the Toro Rosso-Honda package next year.

“We’ll take a look and only then can I say in the middle of next year what we’re going to do,” he said.

This is really interesting in 2018.Somebody would be “red-faced” surely.

    Only because they are cowards.

Renault never said that. It was a rumour in the press that they were not going to extend. A baseless rumour. Horner laughed it off and said they have a contract beyond 2018. Please back up facts with the Renault quote.

the three engine manufacturers doesn’t want anything to do with the red bullies.

Wasn’t born yesterday ! Still supposed to be independent.

Red Bull owns Torro Rosso… and if the PU is strong and reliable, Red Bull wants it for 2019.

Didn’t Renault say that they wouldn’t supply RBR with engines after 2018?

They have an air tight contract with Renault – stop reading dumb press gossiip

Thought the deal was with Toro Rosso and the teams were supposed to work independently.

Hmm, I sure hope Honda doesn`t “do a Newey” but they will probably work together soon and it seems quite likely (Newey did his best AFTER he split with McLaren).

best of luck to the good doctor and his red bull, things better turn out good as otherwise they will once again end up without an engine because no one of the other three wants to have anything to do with them. and by the way, what about their grande Aston Martin cum Cosworth/Illmor?.
