Daniel Ricciardo will start the Mexican Grand Prix from near the rear of the grid after picking up a 20-place grid penalty. The penalty confirmed today morning when he ran a sixth engine and seventh MGU-H.
The Australian is getting a new ICE, which will be his sixth of the season, and two other elements. It’s believed that he will get a 20-place penalty.
The Red Bull speedy becomes the fourth driver to take a grid penalty this weekend, after McLaren duo Fernando Alonso (20 places), Stoffel Vandoorne (35 places) and Toro Rosso rookie Pierre Gasly (15 places).
“I think I’m going to start 16th or 17th,” Ricciardo told Motorsport.com. “I’m going to charge. I’m going to use every rpm that I’ve got!”
