Verstappen set a record in Mexico FP3 – Hamilton, Vettel close

Max Verstappen set a new lap record at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, when the young F1 sensation clocked time of 1:17.113 in his RB13.

Title rivals Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel made second and third fastest respectively.

Championship leader Hamilton was struggling for pace for almost entire of the session but finally the Brit made a perfect lap together to end up 0.075 seconds slower than the Dutch man.

While the title contender Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel was just 0.117s off P1 in third place. The second Mercedes ace Valtteri Bottas set fourth ahead of Friday pace-setter Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo.

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen was sixth fastest and 0.156secs off the back of the group of leading teams.

Home hero Sergio Perez was best of the rest at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez while his Force India team-mate Esteban Ocon, Renault F1’s Sainz and his team-mate Nico Hulkenberg completed the top ten.
