Heavily revised starting grid – F1 2017 US Grand Prix

The two title competitors – points leader Lewis Hamilton and nearest rival Sebastian Vettel – will start Sunday’s race from the front row of the grid, following the duo were separated by a couple of tenths of a second in a gripping qualifying session.

Toro Rosso F1 rookie Brendon Hartley is set to start his first grand prix from the back of the Austin grid due to engine penalties. McLaren ace Stoffel Vandoorne, Red Bull star Max Verstappen and Renault ace Nico Hulkenberg all have power unit element penalties ranging from five to 25 places.

Williams young man Lance Stroll and Haas F1’s home hero Kevin Magnussen, who were hit with three-place penalties for impeding other drivers in qualifying.
