Formula One’s ultrasoft tyre compound will turn pink at this weekend’s United States Grand Prix as official tyre supplier Pirelli show their part in the sport’s support for breast cancer awareness.

Characteristics of the COTA (Circuit of the Americas), including sections of the pit lane and track, are being painted pink as F1 supports the Texas-based Susan G Komen breast cancer charity, with the US race weekend coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month around the world.

A short statement from Pirelli said: “For America, we’re once again taking a softer range of compounds that we have done for previous races there,” he said.

“The Ultra Soft will be available in Austin for the first time: but in pink as a one-off, to highlight the brilliant work of the Susan G. Komen foundation. This should bring lap times down, continuing the trend we have seen over the course of the season.”
