Ricciardo tops FP1 at Hungary Grand Prix

Daniel Ricciardo set fastest lap-time in Friday morning’s first practice session for the Hungarian Grand Prix with heavily updated Red Bull machine, the Australian coming close to the all-time record at the Hungaroring.

Ferrari ace Kimi Raikkonen set second fastest lap-time ahead of Mercedes speedy Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull young Max Verstappen.

Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas and championship leader Sebastian Vettel set fifth and sixth fastest respectively, The McLarens drivers Fernando Alonso and Stoffel Vandoorne finished seventh and eighth respectively, while Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg and Jolyon Palmer completed the top 10.

Jolyon Palmer finished his session early after suffering a puncture and a smashed front wing driving over the exit kerb at Turn Four and its resulted red flag during the final minutes of session.

Williams F1 veteran Felipe Massa set 11th, two-seconds off the pace, followed by Force India’s Sergio Pérez, the Toro Rosso drivers and rookie team-mate Lance Stroll.
