Raikkonen edges Hamilton in 2nd day of testing

Ferrari ace Kimi Raikkonen set the top fastest timing in the second day of pre-season testing, edging Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton by just 0.023s, in the morning session the Mercedes man set best time on super soft tyre.

Valtteri Bottas complete first race simulation of the test, completing 100 laps in only the afternoon session. Max Verstappen made a perfect testing day following back-to-back problems on Monday, set 89 laps in the RB12.

Haas F1’s Kevin Magnussen set fourth fastest with super-softs. The new Force India boy Esteban Ocon managed fifth fastest with VJM10 and complete 96 laps, a day which was delayed in the morning after a stoppage at Turn 10 following a puff of smoke from the rear of the car.

Daniil Kvyat’s Toro Rosso finished with sixth fastest ahead of Valtteri Bottas and the Renault of Jolyon Palmer, which completed 53 laps after managing just an installation lap in the morning.

Antonio Giovinazzi made ninth fastest ahead of McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne, again power unit replacement for McLaren. Vandoorne only competes 40 laps.

Lance Stroll, who sat out the afternoon after his spin during the morning session after only twelve laps. Lack of spare parts ends their test early.
