Finish sixth is out of this world – Button

Jenson Button say his sixth-place finish as “out of this world” after he secured his best result of the season in Austrian GP race.

Speaking following the race, Button said that McLaren were able to beat Williams and Force India thanks to the pace of their car and that they have worked hard to improve.

The Brit, started from third – his highest grid position in nearly two seasons – following benefited of tricky qualifying conditions and also penalties served by Nico Rosberg and Sebastian Vettel.

“To finish sixth is out of this world,” said a jubilant Button. “It was awesome so I am very happy.

“It was a great race. I had a good start – I didn’t quite win the first lap which was my aim – but we had British drivers first and second for seven laps. I couldn’t hold it for any longer than that. As soon as one got past they all did.

“At certain times it was really frustrating, but we still had some great battles out there. The cars that beat us were extremely quick, and we also beat some very quick cars – the Williams and the Force India – so, it was a very good day.”
