Kvyat wins Chinese GP Driver of the Day award

Red Bull’s Daniil Kvyat has been voted ‘Driver of the Day’ of the Chinese Grand Prix for his impressive performance in a chaotic race.

Kvyat finished third in China starting down in sixth, four places behind of teammate Daniel Ricciardo.

Red Bull duo split the Ferrari drivers in a chaotic race won by Mercedes driver Nico Rosberg. Also Red Bull proved they are capable to compete with Mercedes, especially in the slower sectors.

The Russian thinks that, Red Bull’s pace is going to get better as it brings new parts to the car, with a significant Renault engine upgrade expected in Canada.

About turn one incident – Daniil felt the annoyance of Sebastian Vettel following Chinese GP race, with the German accusing the Russian of forcing him into Kimi Raikkonen at the turn one, with Vettel moving wide as Kvyat looked to make a move down the inside.

“Mercedes is still a bit of a step ahead but with the developments in the future races, probably around Canada, we can make a bit of a step forward,” said Kvyat.

“In some circumstances, we can be quite a big challenge to them.

“It was quite an encouraging race. I thought we were close in our pace to Ferrari. We are consistently third-fastest team on the track and with a bit of development in the future we can give a fight to these guys even a bit more. It’s all looking quite promising for the future.”
