Ricciardo fastest in first day of Pirelli wet tyre test

Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, Red Bull Racing’s Daniel Ricciardo and McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne participated in the opening day’s test at the Paul Ricard circuit in southern France.

Daniel Ricciardo set a best time of 1:08.713 with 80 laps in the 2015 Red Bull RB11 chassis to lead the way at Circuit Paul Ricard.

McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne (1:09.131, 87 laps) and Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen (1:09.637, 99 laps) also tested today to give to Pirelli’s 285 laps of wet weather running today.

The two-day test involved seeing the cars running an artificially soaked track and this test is taking place with 2015 F1 cars, with teams not allowed to run with 2016 parts.

For Tuesday’s second and final day of the test Sebastian Vettel will drive for Ferrari, Daniil Kvyat will drive for Red Bull. Vandoorne will drive for the second day in a row for McLaren.
