Raikkonen warns he would try Bottas move again

There is no compromise – Kimi Raikkonen says that he has no regrets over his Russian GP incident with Valtteri Bottas, claiming he would try the move again if he found himself in a similar situation.

Ultimate lap of the Russian Grand Prix, Raikkonen tried to pass Bottas down the inside in to Turn 4, but move was failed and he hit the Williams and sent it in to the barriers, a collision which earned Raikkonen a post-race time penalty and demoted him to eighth place.

When the media asked about the incident on Thursday in Austin, Raikkonen says he still believes he was right to attempt the move.

“There were some discussions and penalties given to me, but I would still do it again tomorrow,”

“Unfortunately, we came together in the end and both lost a bit, but that’s life, that’s racing. I don’t feel bad about it. I would do the same thing next time and see if it goes better.”

Bottas also maintained his view that Raikkonen was at fault, but says he is keen to move on.

“Of course, it was disappointing to lose the points, but my opinion hasn’t changed,” he said.

“I wouldn’t do anything different, but it’s history and I’m 100 per cent ready to move on.”
