Sainz passed fit to race in Russian GP

Carlos Sainz fit to race in Sunday’s Russian Grand Prix following his high-speed horror crash in final practice on Saturday.

Sainz missed qualifying for Russian Grand Prix after destroying his car in a massive accident in the final practice session, latest reports confirms that he is escaped injury after heavy crash

The Spaniard lost control of his car which hit a wall, lost the front left wheel and crashed straight on at high speed into a another barrier on a sharp right turn at the Sochi Autodrome course

Sainz had originally been expected to spend the night in hospital but he was released Saturday evening, saying he was uninjured but sore.

The FIA said Sainz was examined by medical officials Sunday morning at the on-track medical center in Sochi and declared fit to race.

Sainz’s crash prompted fears over driver safety after his car went under the barriers leaving sections of barrier covering the cockpit.
