Max Verstappen tops Ferrari’s 2017 F1 list

Toro Rosso young ace Max Verstappen is top of Ferrari’s drivers line-up list for the 2017 Formula 1 season, according to Italian sports publication La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Kimi Raikkonen was set race seat along with Sebastian Vettel for 2016 F1 during the Belgian GP weekend at Spa; the rumour mill has not stopped in the Italian press.

The young gun, Max Verstappen move to Italian outfit could turn on the fate of the troubled Red Bull/Renault relationship.

It remains an option Red Bull-Renault-Toro Rosso could sever their relationship ahead of next season, despite having a contract until the end of 2016, as a result forcing both teams to look elsewhere for engines.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Red Bull would turn to existing benchmark Mercedes – with F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone’s blessing – while its junior squad would return to the Ferrari fold after leaving for Renault at the end of 2013 F1.

That would indicate Verstappen would have another season driving for Toro Rosso under the observant eye of Ferrari ahead of acceleration to replace Kimi Raikkonen.
