Hamilton storms to home pole in Silverstone for British GP
Defending world champion Lewis Hamilton will start his home grand prix from pole position, seeing off a late charge from Nico Rosberg at the head of another Mercedes front-row lock out.

The Brit posted a time of one minute 32.248 seconds to beat team-mate Rosberg to top spot by just 0.113sec to the delight of the 110,000 crowd at Silverstone. Felipe Massa (Williams) will start third on the grid.

Williams booked the second row, surprising Ferrari, which had looked next strongest throughout the weekend.

Ferrari duo Kimi Raikkonen ended the session ahead of Sebastian Vettel, the pair disappointingly more than a second off Hamilton’s pace.

Red Bull speedy, Daniil Kvyat out-qualified his teammate Daniel Ricciardo following the Aussies had his best time removed when he ran off the circuit.

Toro Rosso speedy, Carlos Sainz qualified eighth ahead of Force India’s Nico Hulkenberg. At the tail of the top 10, Ricciardo has been knocked down to 10th by Hulkenberg.
