Nico Rosberg set the fastest time at the Jerez on morning session of opening day test, as F1 2015 pre-season testing got in progress.

He sets commanding early pace with new Mercedes a best time of a 1m23.106s, putting him 1.5 seconds ahead of nearest rival Daniel Ricciardo by the time most teams stopped for a short break around lunchtime.

Just ahead of lunch time four-time world champion, Sebastian Vettel picks the pace up and to sets a new personal best for the day, now Ferrari third in the standings behind the Williams.

Bottas made a late start with Williams due to carrying out “double checks” on the new FW37, even as the Spaniard Fernando Alonso made irregular appearances on track with the Honda-powered McLaren.

Nico Rosberg, Sebstian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Marcus Ericsson are the first to fire up their engines and head for the pit exit. Testing is under way at Jerez.

Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari, Sauber and Toro Rosso all run in first session, but McLaren and Williams starts late run, and also Lotus yet to appear in morning session.
