Vettel: I’m blown away with Japanese race

F1 Grand Prix of Japan - QualifyingSebastian Vettel commented about the Japanese Grand Prix victory “I’m blown away with today’s race”. Who leads Fernando Alonso by 90 championship points.

The German secure his ninth victory of the season, and fifth in a row of the season. Red Bull’s remarkable pit-stop strategy made the Vettel’s podium for Suzuka.

He starts from second on the grid, but opening lap he send back to third on the line-up, after two remarkable pit-stop seize team-mate Mark Webber and Lotus’s Romain Grosjean for the race win.

“I’m blown away with today’s race,” said Vettel. “I had a very, very poor start and clipped the front wing. I think Lewis had a puncture after that, but I couldn’t go anywhere.

“I was then patient enough and looked after tyres. We had incredible pace at the end.”

“The decision on strategy was made after the first stint when we ran for longer,” said the German.

“It wasn’t easy to make the two-stopper work, but the first stint was crucial, and it turned out to be the right call.”
