Hamilton and Mercedes quickest in practice 1 for 2013 Japanese GP

001_smallBoth Mercedes drivers Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg took first and second fastest lap-time respectively in Friday first free practice for Japanese Grand Prix.

Nice weather conditions welcomed the drivers as the track action got in progress. Following the now traditional early calm, but still weather forecasters expecting heavy rain in Friday.

Sebastian Vettel and his team-mate Mark Webber finished third and fourth respectively ahead of Ferrari duo Felipe Massa and Fernando Alonso.

Lotus drivers Romain Grosjean and Kimi Raikkonen followed seventh and eight respectively. Sergio Perez finished as the quickest of the McLaren drivers in ninth.

Toro Rosso’s Daniel Ricciardo improved late on to complete the top ten positions. This denied Jenson Button, and also prevented the five highest-ranked teams from finishing the session two-by-two.
