More than 4,270 times drivers used gear levers during the Singapore GP

During the Singapore Grand Prix, F1 drivers used 4,270 times downshift/upshift levers. F1 driver begin gear changes using paddles, and electro-hydraulics execute the real alter with throttle and clutch control.

Formula One Steering Wheel

The F1 engine directly connected to clutch, its set between the engine and gearbox. The Carbon F1 clutches which must be able to tolerate temperatures as high as 500 degrees. The clutch is electro-hydraulically operated and can weigh as little as 1.5 kg.

The on-board computer automatically cuts the engine, depresses the clutch and switches ratios in the blink of an eye, just about seamlessly and is only 100 mm in diameter.
