Pirelli extends deal with F1 until 2018 season

Pirelli_Formula-1_2013_4The Italian tyre manufacturer Pirelli will remain with the Formula One until the end of 2018 season.

In the Italian Grand Prix weekend Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery has confirmed that they has finalised agreements with all teams to continue supplying tyres in 2014.

According to a report in the Daily Telegraph: Pirelli has agreed a new five-year deal to provide tyres to Formula One worth an estimated £50 million, which will carry it through until the end of the 2018 season.

Michelin had made an attempt to replace Pirelli, however having dragged his heels for months, FIA president Jean Todt said on Saturday that he understood that “everyone wants Pirelli” and that the governing body was happy to go with the consensus.
