1378564242096561Force India’s Adrian Sutil has been handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton during the qualifying Q2 for 2013 Italian Grand Prix.

Sutil impeded Hamilton at the exit of Parabolica (final curve) as the Briton was finishing a final timed lap. The Mercedes remains 12th having been knocked out of qualifying after Q2.

The German therefore falls from 14th to 17th on the grid, uphold Pastor Maldonado, Paul di Resta and Esteban Gutierrez.

Official statement says: “The stewards determined the impeding was not intentional, however it is the responsibility of the driver to be aware of the approaching car,”.
