Ferrari fined 10,000 Euros for pit lane incident

Felipe-Massa_2999154Ferrari has been fined after their Felipe Massa ignored a red light at the end of the pitlane during the morning practice session. Race steward gives 10,000 Euros (8423 pounds) penalty for an alleged breach of the rules.

The Brazilian attempted for a practice start at the end of the first practice session, when he stopped ahead of the white pitlane line just following the red light appeared and its shows the session had completed.

Massa said over the radio: “The light was red so I braked and I stopped after the line, so I don’t know if it’s OK or not.”

After viewing the available television footage and assessing telemetry data, the stewarding panel – led by Danny Sullivan – opted against more than a fine.

A report issued by the stewards reads: “The driver made every attempt to stop when seeing the right light however the team made an error in releasing the car with insufficient time remaining in the session. No sporting advantage was gained.”
