Calado signed with Force India as test and reserve driver

Motor Racing - Formula One Young Drivers Test - Day One - Silverstone, EnglandForce India confirmed that GP2 speedy James Calado for their test and reserve driver for the rest of the 2013 Formula One season.

He will start his new job in Friday practice sessions, starting with this weekend’s Italian Grand Prix. Also the Silverstone based squad added that many opportunities will give him during upcoming practice session.

“I’m pleased to confirm that we’ve signed James as our third driver,” Team owner Vijay Mallya said.

Mallya also says that they are impressed with his consistent performance, when he drove for Force India during the Young Driver Test,

“We worked with him during the Silverstone test and he impressed everyone with his speed and consistency. We’ve always tried to support young drivers and this is a great opportunity for James to gain some valuable experience of driving during F1 race events.

“James will take part in the opening free practice session on Friday [now] at Monza. He will also run in practice at several other races this year. It’s always useful to get another driver’s feedback on the car and it will help us evaluate James.”
