No idea on Red Bull pace – Vettel

2013 Formula 1 season gets ongoing at the Albert Park circuit for Australian Grand Prix this weekend with many title contenders saying it is unpredictable, who will win in Melbourne.

Reigning world champion Sebastian Vettel says that still doubt over the new machine Red Bull RB9’s pace, following the difficult testing and unknown tyre behavior.

“I’m especially happy to start this year because we want to find out where we are,” Vettel told the Autosport.

“I think we have no idea at this stage – and I don’t believe there is anybody who really has an idea, so it’s good to finally find out. We did a lot of work back at the factory and we’ve arrived with what we think is best,” he said. “Tomorrow we’ll find out if we have gone in the right direction.

“It’s clear where we want to be. We know that it’s going to be difficult as it will be very tight. But at this stage we don’t really know where we are because we don’t know where the others are.”

“The first title was very, very special as after that you don’t have that pressure any more because you proved to yourself more than anyone else that you can do it,” he added.

“After that we had two fantastic years again, very different to each other, but we don’t really think about what happened last year or the last three years. We have zero points on our side at the moment. Everyone has same opportunities.”
