Alonso: Red Bull and McLaren will be strongest in this season

Last year runner-up Fernando Alonso believes that Red Bull and McLaren will be strongest in this season, even as he claims that Ferrari can be closer to their main rivals for achieve front of the sport.

The final day of pre-season testing at Barcelona, the Spaniard posted second fastest lap-time, and also he was only other rival proficient of beating Mercedes recruit Hamilton’s Saturday blistering pace.

The opening session of last year Ferrari struggled with content for title; Red Bull and McLaren continuously fight for title. But the final stint of the season McLaren fall-down behind Ferrari in the Constructors’ standings.

“It is difficult to judge rivals, you cannot go to the training grounds of Barcelona football club and see if they will win Sunday’s match because they are only warming up. We will see in Australia.” said Alonso.

“We should not forget the goal we have, and we should not forget the 0.7 to 0.8 seconds gap that we had to the rest at the end of last year. But we can be closer to Red Bull and McLaren, who will be the strongest this season.”
