Following the all four day test at Barcelona ended yesterday with rain. Season’s second pre-test held at Circuit de Catalunya, no: 1 testing circuit in the Formula 1. All swifts evaluated Pirelli behavior with new machines. Teams are also test with upgraded package.

Circuit de Catalunya featured medium and high speed corners and it’s also an extremely aerodynamics reliant track. Most teams criticized over heavy tyre degradation. Sector time improved but Pirelli degrade too much.

The final day of Barcelona pre-season testing was broken up by rain and it was cost team’s huge amount of significant work. Final day most teams made pit-stop practice and in the morning session was interrupted with five red flags, following the wet condition incidents.

Red Bull struggled with reliability issues

The defending champion eventually claimed P4 on the timesheet, in the morning session the German struggled with small software issue. Following the second day of testing Vettel says that Red Bull have some issues with reliability,

“We had some issues with reliability today and we couldn’t do as many laps as we wanted, but I think its better that this kind of thing happens today rather than in Australia,” Vettel said following the testing. “It was nothing disastrous, just small things that hampered us today.

Webber finished the day three, one second slower than lead Fernando Alonso and in ninth place. The final day of testing, Australian says that an ‘incredible’ performance from his team guys to complete the successful pit-stop practice during the wet condition.

Ferrari claims better understanding of Pirelli compounds

Double time world champion Fernando Alonso was back at the F138 wheels for the first time this year at Barcelona testing and he had a productive day on his first outing in the new Ferrari F138. He set third fastest with top mileage, the Spaniard completed 110 laps. 2012 runner-up lengthily testing both the Soft and Hard compound rubber

“Today we concentrated on a comparison of the compounds, starting with the Soft and moving on to the Hard in the afternoon. The track was colder than yesterday, especially in the morning, which made it harder to adapt the car and find the right grip level.” Alonso said following the third day of testing.

“We tried various aerodynamic configurations and for the first time, we made some set-up changes to get a good understanding of tyre behaviour and degradation. “

“With every change we made, the car reacted as I expected and it was useful to try out the different settings, especially to understand which direction we need to go in next week, when there will be a greater emphasis on performance.” The Spaniard added.

The Final day of testing Felipe Massa says that very difficult with the wet conditions for Ferrari.

“I think what we did in Jerez was quite positive and all the changes we did on the car as well. The car was quite balanced and that’s very important. Here it was not so much because we had a very difficult day with the conditions, but in the rain the car was quite good to drive and quite competitive as well through the run. The Brazilian added.

Lotus admits Happy with test pace but not confident

Lotus F1 team Principal Eric Boullier says that they are happy with the testing progress of new E21, even as he admits that not confident.

Some drivers’ says that Lotus has been very good, freshly Sauber’s recruit Nico Hulkenberg, following testing on Thursday.

“We didn’t do the same programmes, and his fuel would have been down by then so you can’t tell [fully], but that [wasn’t] a bad effort. From how my own tyres felt, [Grosjean’s stint] wasn’t bad.”

“Confident, no, but happy, yes, I know that next test everyone is going to bring a Melbourne spec, so we will see next weekend how it is going. Eric Boullier told Autosport

Tricky to understand McLaren MP4-28

Jenson Button says that it’s been very tricky to understand McLaren 2013 machine MP4-28 during pre-season test.

“It’s been very tricky to understand where the car is,” Button told reporters following the third day of testing.

“At times the car feels good, but at other times it doesn’t. A lot of that is understanding the car and understanding the way it’s working to make sure it’s working the way we expect it to be. Some of the time that hasn’t been the case.

McLaren new recruit Sergio Perez says that Pirelli new tyre compounds degradation is an extreme stage, as it has been very tricky to judge behavior of his brand new McLaren MP4-28 at Circuit de Catalunya.

“It’s extreme, it’s very difficult with the degradation and it’s a big surprise. Normally we see a lot of degradation throughout winter testing, but never this much. We are sometimes going to have cold races, like it is here, so it’s a bit of a worry.” Perez said following the second day of testing.

Mercedes need to improve downforce

Lewis Hamilton says following the final day of testing, “like I said in Jerez, I can feel that we have a good foundation with this car but there is still a lot to learn and we know that the name of the game is to improve our downforce. From a personal point of view, my relationship with the team is growing all the time and it’s going really well.”

Rosberg shows impressive pace in the opening day of testing “It’s always nice to be quickest at the end of the day, in general, I feel happy and comfortable in the car, and it feels better than the last time we were here at this track. Rosberg said following the opening day of testing.

“The car feels decent out there. It has a much, much better base. You can feel its centre of gravity is lower, the aero is better, the platform is better. It feels a lot stronger. It’s a pleasure to drive because it’s a lot faster than last year.” The German added.

Team Principal Ross Brawn: “Overall, we’ve had a good week in Barcelona and achieved the programme that we set ourselves for this second test. The rain today was a little unfortunate; however we made the best of the conditions and were still able to take some useful data out of the day.”

“Nico and Lewis are becoming more familiar with the car and its behaviour as each day progresses, and Lewis is settling into the team very well. Both drivers are providing excellent feedback which is pushing the development of the car both here and at the factory, and it is very rewarding to see their enthusiasm and commitment.” He added
