Sauber F1 Team Chief Designer Matt Morris says that their new recruit Nico Hulkenberg is fast and intelligent driver and he added that their previous experience proved his skill, when they worked at Williams.

Former Force India speedy Nico Hülkenberg successfully completed major trouble-free running in Sauber’s new C32 chassis in the both day testing, racking up a total of 438 kilometers (272 miles) at the Jerez circuit.

The opening day of testing at Jerez Hulkenberg set seventh fastest and in the second day of testing he took fifth fastest.

“I worked with Nico briefly at Williams and he’s not only a fast driver, he’s also a clever driver, that’s both in terms of his general approach and also his ability to understanding engineering. He’s a huge asset to the team.” Morris told Autosport.

“It has been a bit of a challenge to fit Nico in the car, the chassis was designed and realized around the summer break and we didn’t know at that point that Nico was going to be coming.” Morris added.

“He fits, but we had to make some special boots for him to absolutely optimize the feet arrangement. But he’s pretty happy now.”
