Kobayashi to test Ferrari 458 Italia

The Japanese speedy Kamui Kobayashi will test Ferrari 458 Italia at the Motorland Aragón in Spain this week.

Autosport reporting that Formula 1 refugee Kamui Kobayashi and Karun Chandhok are among a raft of new drivers testing for the factory AF Corse Ferrari team in Spain this week.

The Japanese driver has been ousted from Sauber over the winter and not succeeds to line up a replacement seat regardless of raising funds of €8 million. Towards the end of last year he said he was looking at options outside F1 for this season.

“I have to admit that it is very sad and feel sorry for fans and Japanese companies who supported me. But I am still confident to make it happen in 2014. Kobayashi said last December.

Ex- F1 drivers and AF Corse regulars Gianmaria Bruni and Giancarlo Fisichella are set to stay at the team this year with Olivier Beretta the only driver named in the second car ahead of the opening round of the WEC in April.
