Hamilton: I am loving life with Mercedes, team is great

Following the first pre-season test at Jerez, Mercedes new recruit Lewis Hamilton pleased with life at Mercedes and he quotes ‘Mercedes is great, everyone is so friendly and it feels fantastic to work with a new group of people’.

First two days of testing Mercedes struggled, first day of testing Rosberg forced out after few laps due to technical problem and second day Hamilton crashed following break failure.

Former McLaren speedy signed a three-year deal with the Silver Arrows, now he delights with new atmosphere.

“So far I am loving it here,” Hamilton said to the official F1 website.

“The team is great. Everybody is so welcoming and it feels fantastic to work with a new group of people. I honestly feel that this could be a place for me to grow something new.”

(Piece of interview) Q: Were you surprised that so many people felt obliged to take such a deep interest in your career, expressing their suspicions that you might have jumped to the wrong ship?

Lewis Hamilton: No, that didn’t surprise me. That’s how people are. Whenever there is something coming up some people feel the right to make their comments. That doesn’t really bother me.

Q: You said that at Mercedes you’re in for a marathon and not a sprint. Have you ever done a marathon to know what you’re talking about?

LH: I have done a half marathon. I heard that expression once and I thought that it was a good way of speaking about my situation – I am here for the long term.

Q: So you believe that you will have the stamina to go all the way with Mercedes – in marathon terms, the full 42 kilometres?

LH: Oh yes, I hope so. (laughs)
