Vettel not expecting upgraded RB8 reach sufficient pace

European GP Friday practice top speedy Sebastian Vettel says that he is not expecting upgraded RB8 reach real pace in the competitive season.

Defending world champion Sebastian Vettel set top fastest lap time in second practice for European Grand Prix. Vettel running an upgraded rear-end package on the RB8 that characteristic reshaped side-pods and new rear wing endplates, made the most of the new additions to go quickest.

But despite going fastest, Vettel felt situation were not favorable to a proper judgment of the new parts.

“We have tried some new parts on the car today, but the lap times have not really allowed us to have a fair conclusion of them yet.”

“It was important to have a clean practice today and I’m happy with what we did. The conditions will change again for Sunday I think; it was a bit cooler today, which will make a difference. “

“It’s close between the teams and it’s not yet clear what the right strategy is for Sunday, hopefully we can make a step forward tomorrow.”
