Pirelli ready to extend the deal with Formula 1

Formula One official tyre supplier Pirelli’s existing contract will expire the end of 2013, but Pirelli expecting extending their deal with F1 sport.

In 2010 end last F1 tyre supplier Bridgestone withdraw from the sport, after the Italian manufacturer contracted with the Formula 1 and now Pirelli is the main play maker of the sport.

“Our current contract runs until the end of 2013, but we always intended to be in F1 for the medium-to-long term,” Pirelli motorsport director Paul Hembery told Autosport.

“The deadline for the 2014 decision is next June.

“If the sport wants us to stay and we can convince the board to continue, in light of economic conditions, then our intention is to go forward.”
