Rosberg pleased with Mercedes GP’s recent good progress and he has a high regard for the last race performance at Monaco. He is expecting Mercedes can make another step forward in Canada and have a successful weekend.

Rosberg remembering Gilles Villeneuve, he was killed in a qualifying crash at the 1982 Belgian Grand Prix. The German says that Villeneuve was a great friend and rival of his father and this weekend also very special for Formula 1.

“We’ve made good progress over the past few weeks and that was clear from the performance in Monaco,” he said on Friday.

“So I’m hopeful that we can make another step forward in Canada and have a successful weekend.

“The fans are always fantastic at this race and they really turn the city into a carnival for the race weekend. Gilles Villeneuve was a great friend and rival of my father, which also makes this weekend very special. I can’t wait to get there.”

Rosberg, winner of the Chinese Grand Prix, has scored more points than any other driver across the last four race weekends; he trails the title leader by just 17 points.
