Lewis Hamilton starts from fourth on the grid and he dropped one place at turn 1 by Fernando Alonso, and he was fighting for that position with local boy Felipe Massa. After his third Pit-stop, gearbox gives up and he has to pull over out of Curva do Sol. He shifted up to sixth and the gearbox went in to neutral. Replays show Hamilton’s gearbox being stuck in neutral.2008 world champion said the trouble in progress to increase untimely in the race but he still enjoyed going wheel-to-wheel with his competitors.

“It’s been an interesting year and today I gave it my all and enjoyed the race,” he told the BBC. “It was a little bit unfortunate for the team not to get the extra points, but I enjoyed racing out there. I was challenging right to the end even though the gearbox problem came on quite early. I was struggling with gears throughout.”

“It’s been a long, long year and I’m looking forward to a bit of downtime and some time family and friends, some training and then just attacking next year,” Hamilton added. “I’ve got lots I can improve on but I still feel positive even though we didn’t have a great result today.”
