FIA ban DRS use in Eau Rouge corner at Spa

Aug.23 – FIA has settled with teams wants to ban the usage of DRS through the well-known Eau Rouge curve at Spa. Although the overtake-aiding system can never be used in a corner during races, its use is normally permitted on all parts of the circuit through practice and qualifying sessions.

Eau Rouge (Turns 2 to 4 on the Belgium F1 track) has long since held a reputation as one of Motorsports most challenging corners and has duly claimed a number of victims in earlier season. Following drivers voiced their worry over using DRS – which dramatically reduces downforce as the car’s upper rear wing part opens – on that part of track, the FIA agreed to ban its use.
