Massa not hurrying to sign new Ferrari contract

Felipe Massa has comforted speculation connecting Robert Kubica to the Ferrari team by clearing up that he is not rushing his own strategy to renew the agreement in front of the 2011 season. The Maranello team’s agreement for the 2008 championship runner-up will come to an end at the end of this year. Even though together Robert Kubica and Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel have been related with the Scuderia at various times, the present championship leader leftovers relaxed.

I am very happy with my conditions and the way we are working, Massa is quoted as saying by the BBC. Even before my accident (in Hungary) last year, some talks started over a new contract and the talks have started again. I’m not really in a rush to do that but I am in a rush to do better racing and to fight for the championship – that is more on my mind and the contract is something which I’m not in a rush for at the moment.

For the meantime, Kubica accept the rumors but also notes that agreement talk should not be taking place this early on into the season. There were rumors last year about Ferrari and rumors this year, Massa added. We will see. Up to now, the rumors have only been rumors. It’s too early to talk about; I’m not thinking for any second or minute about next year. Everybody seems quite happy with what we’re doing.”
