Ricciardo Farted, Bottas Keeps Laughing in Singapore GP Press

Daniel Ricciardo dropped a bomb on rivals Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas in the middle of the official Singapore Grand Prix post-race press conference — and they couldn’t handle it.

Ricciardo reportedly leaked some exhaust fumes while sitting on the press conference dais — briefly wreaking havoc on the official media session inside the Marina Bay Street Circuit Media Centre.

Ricciardo struck towards the end of the press conference when the moderator called on any Finnish media to ask their questions to Bottas in his native tongue.

The Aussie wasn’t even embarrassed. He can be heard by broadcast microphones asking his F1 rivals if he has their permission to fart.

Bottas could hardly complete his interview duties without bursting into laughter, a rare view from the usually calm Finn.

“Try to keep it together now that this mate next to me just farted,” Bottas said, pointing at Ricciardo while covering his face. For those curious about Finnish slang, the direct translation actually had Bottas reportedly saying Ricciardo “threw a kite”.

The smiling, shoey-loving Australian is known for his larrikin behavior, and fortunately Bottas and Hamilton seemed to take the awkward incident in good humour, though it may leave a bad taste in the mouths – and noses – of others.
