Italian Grand Prix race winner Lewis Hamilton is booed by Ferrari fans during his post-race podium interview. Having helped ruin chances of a home Ferrari victory, Hamilton was booed like a pantomime villain on the Monza podium.
Facts – Vettel and Rosberg: gets booed, wins crowd over. Hamilton: gets booed, gets salty.
Rosberg and Vettel booed at Silverstone in the last 2 seasons yet it’s all drama when Hamilton is booed in Monza. British fans cheered at Silverstone when Vettel got a puncture…
The British driver had an uneventful afternoon, starting from pole and holding the lead throughout the race.
Hamilton responded with a bold comment
“You know what – I love it here in Italy, I love the passion of the fans especially the Ferrari fans. The energy – you never get to see it apart from Silverstone so I love it. I am happy. The team did an amazing job. Hamilton said
“Mercedes power is definitely better than Ferrari power. It worked well this weekend. The start was a bit difficult as the grip was quite low. It’s a great day and result for us.”
The truth is that the Ferraris were no match for the Mercedes. So Hamilton now holds a three-point lead over Vettel, who finished third, going into the next race, in Singapore, in a fortnight’s time.
