Italian GP Qualifying stopped after Grosjean crashes out

Live updates from Monza: Heavy rain at Monza, qualifying session stopped following Romain Grosjean crashes out.

Only nine drivers completed the time-lap in before the red flag, but there will be 13 minutes of Q1 action to come when we do get this session on again. Confirmation that the restart of the session has been delayed due to the heavy rain.

“I told you it was too dangerous,” screams Grosjean just after the aquaplaned accident.

“I can’t see where I’m going,” Grosjean says before the crash. “It’s too dangerous.”

“You’re in a straight line and then you’re facing the wall at 300kph,” Grosjean told Sky F1.

“You couldn’t see anything. You can’t back out in a straight line because someone might be behind you.

“We should not have gone out at all. The damage doesn’t seem too bad. The impact wasn’t strong which was lucky. Spinning in a straight line is not what you should see in F1.”

Latest updates: Session delayed until 15:00 local time (Italy – Monza)… more to follow
