Ferrari speedy, Kimi Raikkonen goes fastest of all with a 1:45.502, the Finn’s time 0.053s quicker than Lewis Hamilton’s time. Kimi set the best on the ultra-softs. With Hamilton doing his time on softs, Mercedes duo have been running the soft compound – and running them very quickly indeed.
Sebastian Vettel made third fastest lap-time with ultra-softs ahead Red Bull duo Max Verstappen and Daniel Ricciardo.
Valtteri Bottas managed sixth fastest, he brush with the barriers just after his flying lap. Following the incident Mercedes have confirmed Valtteri’s brush with the barriers caused “some front-wing damage”. The Finn hasn’t been back on track since his brush with bother on his slow-down lap.
The problematic session continues for Fernando Alonso with the Spaniard just 13th – the slowest of every car which has run the ultrasoft so far. Early stage of the session he faced engine trouble, following the Spaniard lost DRS on his faltering McLaren.
Carlos Sainz Jr in the Toro Rosso was seventh, Force India’s Esteban Ocon was eighth, and Sainz’s team-mate Daniil Kvyat was ninth despite a persistent engine problem.
Stoffel Vandoorne, running an updated Honda power unit, was tenth in his McLaren. The Belgian’s team-mate Fernando Alonso was delayed by engine and DRS problems and finished 14th.
