Mercedes F1 reveals new look No:44 and No:77 on shark fins

Mercedes GP has become the first Formula 1 team to reveal the new format of driver race number and name short visuals, which will be displayed on cars from this weekend’s Spanish Grand Prix.

Following last month meeting F1 Commission and Strategy Group mutually decided that regulations uttering that driver names and personal numbers on cars must be clear would be strictly required.

Today (Wednesday) Mercedes published the new format on shark fins to reveal that the three-letter IDs used for its drivers – ‘HAM’ for Lewis Hamilton and ‘BOT’ for Valtteri Bottas – alongside each driver’s personal number – 44 for Hamilton, 77 for Bottas – and also added their national flag.

Mercedes has also made the coloring on Bottas’ number from red to dark blue, more supportive for the ID process.
