Red Bull youngster Max Verstappen has been voted Driver of the Day for second place for Formula 1 Austrian Grand Prix.

The Dutch-man scored the second podium finish as he benefited from a final lap collision between team-mates Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg.

The result was a boost for Verstappen’s Austrian-founded team Red Bull on its home circuit. It leaves Verstappen in sixth place in the drivers’ championship, with Red Bull third in the constructors’ table.

‘I enjoyed it: it was an exciting race,’ said Verstappen, who admitted that driving the last 10 laps on soft tyres had been hard going. ‘The balance of the car was good and the whole race went really well.’
