Title leader Nico Rosberg again set fastest lap-time during Friday afternoon’s second practice session for the Austrian Grand Prix, which session was disrupted by heavy rain.
Rosberg, who broke a Red Bull Ring record in opening practice session, set best time in a 1:07.967 in P2 before the rain began, just 0.019s faster than Lewis Hamilton as his team-mate and nearest title contender made a late attempt on the ultra-softs.
Nico Hulkenberg set third fastest for Mercedes-powered Force India, while Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel and Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo followed the Force India in Red Bull ring.
Four-time world champion ended the second practice in the gravel after losing control of his Ferrari late in the session.
Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz set sixth fastest ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen, Williams’ Valtteri Bottas and the McLarens duo Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso.
