Valtteri Bottas did not run in third practice at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix following his car was damaged by a loose drain cover in pit-lane.
F1 Technical Delegate Jo Bauer inspected the damage drain section, which was also covering various cables, before a traffic cone was placed in front of the hole to caution other drivers of the problems.
Williams F1 team found damage to the radiator and removed the gearbox from Bottas’ car, working to repair it in time for qualifying, which takes place at 1700 local time (1400 BST).
“We don’t have time to repair the damage the drain caused to Bottas’ car before the end of FP3. He won’t be back out. Frustrating!” Williams posted on its official Twitter account.
