Huge crash for Massa in FP1 at Canadian GP

From FP1 live updates – Huge crash for Felipe Massa at turn 1, the rear wing and bodywork is gone from his Williams.

“I think I had a problem because I cancelled the DRS and I lost the rear completely,” Massa said following the crash.

Williams later confirmed the DRS on Massa’s car did not fully close which meant he lost the rear under braking. The Brazilian was uninjured after completed seven laps in the FW38 and will be hoping to get back out in the next session.

Felipe’s car would be recovered and returned to the pits. The word from Williams was that the DRS did not close properly. Felipe had dropped to eighth and then thirteenth. He would finish the session in fourteenth.
