In qualifying Lewis Hamilton made a late attack and overcame his teammate Nico Rosberg and Ferrari duo in a last lap which defending World Champion go quicker than ever in every sector and set the fastest ever lap ever seen in Bahrain.
The Brit arrived at the Sakhir circuit on race day with an attire matching that of some of the locals and declared a love for the culture.
Following posting a picture of himself wearing the Hamilton said on Twitter: ‘Nothing but love and respect for this culture, and Bahrain!! Feeling royal!’

Mercedes boss Toto Wolff admits reverting to 2015 qualifying foramat is sadly not an option
On trying to change new qualifying: ‘We had such a clear opinion. All teams were united and positive and there was clear feedback from fans and somehow we can’t pin it down.
‘Various stakeholders with various opinions have had their say. A return to 2015 qualifying is not on the table. It’s a kick in the stomach for the purists, maybe even lower.’
Wolff was one of the team bosses who had attended a meeting earlier today, with the aim of trying to change the terrible qualifying format – it didn’t work out too well…more to follow
